The heart of Legacy Film Group is one person: me.
Born and raised in a military family, I was 8 years old when my parents handed me a camcorder to pass the time on yet another cross-country moving trip.
And then I just kept going.
These days I’m based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina but I began my professional career in Washington, DC back in 2003. I started as an entry-level assistant at National Geographic Television and Film. Three years later I was the youngest producer in the building.
Two decades after that, I’ve made films for everyone from Hulu to the Smithsonian Channel and everywhere in between. Like most folks in the documentary industry, I fill many roles on my films which means I’m not just a producer and a director, I’m also a writer, a cameraman, an editor, craft services … I even do a little makeup when needed.
Over the years, I’ve traveled to virtually every continent, been in charge of budgets ranging from a few thousand to a few million, and worked with some of the most creative and talented people on the planet.
And that’s where the “Group” comes into my company’s name.
Because when you hire Legacy Film Group, you don’t just hire Owen Palmquist, you hire an entire network of talented filmmakers and world-class creatives curated over the past 23 years.
So what can my group do for you?
